Andrew Neyman is an bold younger jazz drummer, single-minded in his pursuit to upward thrust to the highest of his elite east coast song conservatory. plagued by the failed writing career of his father, Andrew hungers day and night to become one of the greats. Terence Fletcher, an instructor equally recognized for his instructing talents as for his terrifying methods, leads the highest jazz ensemble in the school. Fletcher discovers Andrew and transfers the aspiring drummer into his band, ceaselessly changing the younger man’s life. Andrew’s ardour to achieve perfection speedy spirals into obsession, as his ruthless trainer continues to push him to the brink of both his capability-and his sanity.
